Celica Clayton, renowned as the "Monarch Adventurer" throughout World's Odyssey, is a young NPC with tremendous talent. She has a heart, and meets Shina and company on her journey alone in pursuit of Odyssia, which continued even after the world was infected with bugs. She is the charismatic presence of the Adventurers. Arata finds out that Celica shares a striking resemblance to a missing foreign idol.

History

End Quest

In End Quest, a Japan-exclusive preorder bonus for Death end re;Quest, Celica originally battled in a more pragmatic manner; she would allow NPCs to be killed by monsters in order to study their attack patterns. Part of her interactions with Iris included modifying her personality to be more "in-character."

Death end re;Quest

Celica is first encountered in Chapter 5. After the party helps her right her boat, she joins them on their quest to reach Odyssia. Arata, having previously heard a news report regarding the disappearance of foreign idol Chloe Aaron, quickly notes how similar they are in appearance.

In Chapter 10, the party reaches Odyssia. While the rest of the party is in awe of the legendary sky capital, Celica appears less than pleased. At the same time that Arata is assaulted by Aphesis at Summer Life, Celica turns her sword on the party. She reveals that she had already reached Odyssia before meeting the party - hence the damaged Terminal Stones that hindered the party - and found nothing but monsters. Figuring that the "real" Odyssia was somewhere even further beyond, she tried her hardest to search for more, breaking her ribs in the process, until she managed to pierce the game's boundaries and end up in a black void. The thought of the legend of Odyssia being a lie caused her despair to overload, threatening to glitch her out before she met Victor Tailman. Claiming to be God, Victor instructed Celica to capture Shina Ninomiya, promising to make World's Odyssey real in exchange.

Upon recalling these events, Celica proceeds to glitch out and fight the party. As the party subdues her, memories of another world flood her mind. Chloe Aaron hated her father, but believed that doing his bidding would lead to her finding more in life. So she continued to sing and push herself, at the expense of her family, friends, and classmates. She finally obtained fame and fortune, but it was no replacement for love, and Chloe was left feeling abandoned.

She takes her lost despair from her buggy, and appears to be ready to continue the journey, but Victor reveals that he has taken the Mr. Enigma avatar from Arata Mizunashi. He hijacks Celica's personality, causing her to become a mindless killer; the brainwashed Celica proceeds to end the lives of Al Astra, Lily Hopes, and Lucil Filarete. Right as Celica prepares to kill Clea Glaive, Clea reveals that she knows the emotion that her own buggy is suppressing and, tapping into her suppressed courage, sacrifices herself to eliminate Celica.

It is revealed, however, that everyone survived the encounter and were rescued by Ending Engage. Chloe joins Arata and the other members of the party in subduing Iris. One campfire scene in Chapter 11 has Celica feeling remorse for what she did to the other party members, but Al convinces her to stay.

In Celica's ending, time has reversed to before the events of the story. Arata finds himself at a press event in which Aggle announce the Alice Engine. When attempting to return to Enigma, Chloe apologises to Arata for being late to the tour as she was stuck in traffic, though he doesn't recognise her until she takes off her sunglasses. Chloe doesn't remember Arata, however.

Death Ends

• If the party challenges Celica for her boat in Chapter 5, Celica obliges before effortlessly decapitating everyone.

Death end re;Quest 2

In chapter 4, Shina gives Mai Toyama avatars of her friends from World's Odyssey, including Celica, which allows her to summon them in battle to fight alongside her.

In Chloe's sub event in New Game+, it shows what happens after her ending in the first game. Chloe, after meeting Arata, tries to tell him what to do thinking he's staff there though when she calls him by name Arata points out he never told her. She then remembers the name Celica, and though she doesn't regain all her memories, realizes that she had been on a journey with Arata before and that they were friends despite never having met in this timeline until just now. She later befriends Shina as well and remembers that she also travelled with her upon meeting her for the first time.

In chapter 6, Shina is able to send a text to one of her friends about the situation going on in La Choara but loses signal before she can send it to anyone else. If Shina sends it to Chloe, she arrives in La Choara 11 days later and approaches Mai, Rotten Dollhart, and Liliana Pinnata asking if they know Shina. The trio are surprised that someone knew who she was, though Shina arrives and explains that she was who she had sent a text to. The group realize that Chloe was able to get into town, with Shina taking Chloe to her home to catch up. Later that night, Shina and the trio go to the tourist area, as that is where Chloe got in, to see if they could get out of town as everyone was stuck inside. They find they can't, though realize that cars could get through and Chloe had arrived in a car.

In Chloe's sub-event, exclusive to New Game+, she dines with the trio with Mai and Liliana eventually realizing they recognise her due to her being a famous idol. They are surprised such a famous person would be friends with Arata and Shina, and after telling them that they became friends due to coincidence, sings to the trio who fall in love with her voice.

They plan to leave with Chloe in the car the next day, though are unable to as Shina is murdered by Midra Dollhart and her black cloaked minions due to sneaking into the building that Midra did sacrifices in. Shina recorded this footage as she died and sent it to Chloe, who shows it to the trio the next day. Shocked at seeing the video, the group decide they need to get revenge for Shina and Chloe tells them not to worry as she will confront Midra with the video. She does so, and tells her to turn herself in and that if Chloe doesn't return to Japan within a week, an investigation will be made with police and others coming to La Choara to deal with the situation meaning killing her wont stop her being arrested and tried for her crimes. She gives her one day to turn herself in and returns to her hotel room, and tells the trio they will leave the town once she has done so. Later that night however, one of Midra's minions knocks on her door with Chloe assuming it was the trio. Instead, upon opening the door, she is stabbed by the black cloaked man and realizing she will die pulls out a bomb she had brought with her and detonates it figuring that if she is going to day she'll take her killer with her. The hotel is blown to pieces, killing them both, with everyone in town — including the trio — shocked — as they knew Chloe was in there.

After Mai defeats Julietta Nolan, the person responsible for everything that had happened in La Choara, she uses the World's Key to reverse time to before any of the events happened and creates a World where Julietta never existed in Arata's World. Therefore, in this new version of the World, none of this happened — though Mai, Rotten, and Liliana remember the events from the previous timeline.

Trivia

• Mary Skelter 2 gives Red Riding Hood a costume based on Celica as part of its "Death End Attire" cross-promotion. Like Celica, Red Riding Hood fits into the "cool big sister" character archetype. Both are also seen as incredibly strong in their respective games.
